Heavens to Betsy: We think it’s possible that LeBron James has proven himself in the fourth quarter. Or in overtime. Or in double overtime. Or, perhaps soon, in the NBA Finals. He scored the last 25 points for the Cavs. That, friends, is ridiculous. Consider our jaws officially agape. More tomorrow.

Update on Ruediger

Loretta Hunt of The Fight Network was able to also contact the head of the California State Athletic Commission, Armando Garcia. Garcia was a bit more forthcoming with Hunt in regard to Gabe Ruediger than he was with me.

According to Garcia:

?His [Ruediger’s] license was not suspended nor was it denied. His renewal application is still under review and he will not be available [to fight] this Saturday.?

Sounds like semantics to me. Renewal application still under review? If Kazushi Sakuraba after all the beatings he’s taken can get a quick response to his application than why not Ruediger? And if Johnnie Morton, who to my knowledge has never so much fought in an amateur match, can get licensed, why is Ruediger’s renewal still “under review?”

I’m still waiting to hear back from Ruediger but according to Hunt’s article, he’s apparently considering legal action. Good for him.

Ruediger’s case has brought to light many other questionable situations in which CSAC denied or revoked licenses. Don’t be surprised if Garcia really comes under heavy scrunity in the coming months.

Also, Royce Gracie has been licensed so his match vs. Sakuraba is definitely going to happen.

I still plan to save my money and get my MMA fix on Sunday night by watching the WEC’s debut on Versus.

Miguel Cotto vs. Zab Judah

Add comment May 31st, 2007

So the fight dubbed as “X-PLOSIVE!” is coming up this 9th of June on HBO Pay-per-view. WBA Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto will defend his title against Zab “Super” Judah. The question is: Should I buy the fight? I have seen Cotto’s fights and, to me, he is a very exciting fighter. In fact, he knocked out once undefeated Carlos Quintana in just five rounds in their fight for the WBA championship belt. I might just buy it for him, but I’m not sure about Judah. His last fight against Mayweather was just a big disaster and I hope he won’t do it at this fight. During the last press conference for this fight, both fighters promised to win, but there’s only one winner and we wouldn’t like any draws. My prediction for this fight is a win by Cotto either by knockout or decision, but the knockout has a higher possibility. I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears on this fight.

Larry Hughes will be back tonight, but nobody really cares about that anymore: The planet’s got Daniel Gibson fever. Well, maybe that’s pushing it, but if LeBron James and company can pull off Game 5 in Detroit tonight — hey, the Bulls won one there — then everything is upside down and crazy, and we even promise to buy LeBron’s shitty sports drink. As long as he doesn’t dance.

As we await Roger Clemens‘ return to the game this Monday, we bring you this old public service announcement from Roger on the evils of chewing tobacco. The guy is a natural actor, though we really don’t want to know what happened once the camera stopped rolling.
