Here’s a current list of the champions, according to the “major” sanctioning bodies. I’ll spare you my usual rant about having so many different champs, and just present the data. I’ll follow with my own picks below.Key:World Boxing Association (WBA)…

Story here.Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, known to black fans as “that bleedin’ white boy” pulled out some new tricks to go along with his old-fashioned “stand there and let him hit me, and maybe I’ll hit him, too” strategy. Floyd Mayweather beat that method…

If you’re going to go out, go out with guns ablazin’. Chris Andersen of the Charlotte Hornets was kicked out of the NBA for violating the league’s drug policy. However, since a player can only be disqualified for a fourth positive test for performance-enhancing drugs, or a first positive test for “drugs of abuse”, we know that he got kicked out for having a good time because he never has been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs.
The drugs on that list are amphetamine and its analogs, which include methamphetamine; cocaine; LSD; opiates, including heroin, codeine and morphine; and PCP.
Andersen has not previously been suspended for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Under the CBA, the first positive test for performance-enhancing drugs results in a 10-game suspension.
Known as the “Birdman” for his high-flying dunks, Andersen averaged 5.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 32 games this season.
Andersen is probably best remembered for his performance in the NBA’s dunk contest last year when he needed eight tries to finish his first dunk. (Read)

The woman began to scream, attracting the attention of police. Authorities tracked Rider down early Thursday morning and arrested him, Baker said. The woman was not injured. (Read)

In the opening rounds, it looked very much like their first fight, with…

Even if it’s just a marketing gimmick, White Castle’s movement to make the Monday after the Super Bowl an official holiday is genius. Over 13,000 people have signed the petition so far, and if they can get like a zillion-million more, this is gonna happen. Here’s their reasoning:
Why shouldn’t there be a grassroots campaign to make the Day After the “Big Game” a national holiday?
Especially when you consider that there are more parties with more food and more beer on the day of the “Big Game” than on New Year’s Eve. And, as a result, some 1.4 million employed U.S. adults call in sick the Day After the “Big Game.”
What’s interesting here is that nowhere on the site do they suggest that you go eat hamburgers on this “D.A. Day”. That’s excellent, because White Castle is disgusting, especially how they refer to their little cancer-inducers as “Sliders”. Yuck.
Of course, none of this should really apply to us anyway since we don’t have a real job, nor do we intend to get a real job. In fact, we’re starting our own movement called the “We Don’t Want a Real Job (Movement)”. It’s really simple in its genius. Everyone gives us money and then we don’t work.

ENNA. EH! What more can be said about Justine Henin’s disgraceful bellyache? Peter Bodo reports that Patrick McEnroe said she “pulled a Roberto Duran.” She did indeed. Sonny Liston also comes to mind — quite the resolute punisher when on top, but not …

“I love my wife“. Four little words that mean so much. Yet how many times do you see professional athletes actually say those words, or do anything to express that rarely-heard sentiment? No - you often hear about athletes cheating on their wife, or trying to cheat on their wife, or women […]
