Shin Do Kumate IX Review

Event Review - Shin Do Kumate IX Shin Do Kumate IX is the continuation of a "Full Contact Fighting" series of events that has been active in the Tampa Bay, Florida area for the last several years. Promoted by MKM Knockout Productions, Inc. and sanctioned by the Florida State Boxing Commission, the events are similar to K-1 or traditional Muay Thai style matches with the exception of elbows being disallowed. The events tend to feature mostly in-state fighters with several out of state/country fighters per card. The majority of the events feature at least one female bout and showcase three or four amateur bouts preceeding the pro bouts. The Venue: The venue for this event was the Bob Martinez Sports Complex located upon the grounds of Tampa University. Shin Do Kumate IX is what I would consider a "small" show with the crowd estimated by myself at between four to five hundred spectators. The ring for the event was setup at center of the Tampa University basketball court which provided an unobstructed view from both the general admission stands and the ringside seats where I was located. A "fighter entrance" was located on one side of the ring which featured a curtained off area from which the competitors entered. Two large video screens, one on each side of the curtains, provided an additional view of the fight as well as replays of the action between rounds and post-fight.
